Original U.S. Kentucky Percussion Rifle with Set Trigger c.1850

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This came out of a Shed and looks it even after a wipe over. When it was actually made is anyone's guess, though it looks to be from around 1850. It is fitted with a heavy Octagonal rifled barrel 34 1/2" in length and is mounted in a half stock which has some cracks in the fore end. Overall length is 50". It is mounted in brass including Hook butt plate, trigger guard and brass patch box with circular cover. There is even still some patch in the box!

Interestingly the rifle has been, since new, fitted with a "set trigger", where depressing the rear trigger first until it clicks and just lightly touching the front trigger discharges the weapon, hopefully with great accuracy. Unfortunately, the trigger mechanism is out of adjustment, so the rifle is currently stuck on full cock

The gun is unmarked on Lock Plate or Barrel but after a complete cleaning overall maybe some marking will show up. Not unattractive but has been long neglected. Ready to restore, or display as is!
