Original U.S. Kentucky Flintlock Hunting Rifle by Riddle with Tiger Figured Stock - circa 1830

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Here is an octagonal barreled Rifled "Kentucky" style rifle, which more correctly is known as a Pennsylvania Rifle. The .50 caliber smoothbore heavy octagonal barrel is 35" long and the rifle measures 51 1/2" in overall length.

The rifle was built in America, with a "continental" style detached ring neck flintlock, possibly from a Military pistol. It was most likely originally around .40" rifled, but it has since been smooth bored out to .50 for use as a fowling piece.

The stock is 1/2 stocked and the rifle is all brass mounted, with a wooden ramrod held under the barrel. The stock itself is made of very attractive tiger stripe maple, which due to staining and the years have almost gave it a "tiger eye" appearance. The lock currently needs adjustment and will not hold at cock.

Shows wear but is in nice display condition. Ready to hang on the wall!
