Original Items: One-of-a-kind sets. This is a set of two fantastic 1920s interwar photo albums named from United States Marines’ service in the 1920s. The first photo album contains 25 pages featuring dozens of personal photographs and postcards from various locations. The pictures feature images of Chinese soldiers, American Marines, military bases, foreign consulate buildings, Winter Palace in Peking, Marines training, fighting each other, military formations and inspections, US Naval ships. The postcards are in color and show images of various locations in the Philippines.
The second album focuses more on service stateside and in China as well as photos of France. The photos featured are mainly Marines training and shooting on the rifle range in Honolulu in 1920. There are pictures of Naval Vessels conducting target practice and images of the ships’ gun turrets. There are various birds eye shots of France, Pennsylvania as well as Washington DC including pictures of the Whitehouse.

The term China Marines, originally referred to the United States Marines, of the 4th Marine Regiment, who were stationed in Shanghai, China from 1927 to 1941 to protect American citizens and property in the Shanghai International Settlement, during the Chinese Revolution and the Second Sino-Japanese War. Those Marines stationed at the embassy in Peking and the consulate in Tientsin referred to themselves as North China Marines.
