  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is a great example of a Model 1883/1889 U.S. Campaign Hat as used during the later phases of the Indian War and the Spanish-American War. An iconic piece of U.S. Military Headgear!

The Model 1883/89 hat has air vents punched in the crown that somewhat resemble a snowflake. This example bears correct "snowflake" punched pattern vents on both sides. The brim has three lines of stitching.

The hat ribbon bow is mostly absent but the bow itself is still present on one side. These felt hats became symbolic of the Army on the western frontier and today is one of the most highly prized pieces of military headgear. The campaign hat still has much of the original grain-pattern leather sweatband intact, although the stitching is loose in a couple areas. The exterior shows signs of honest use, with some mothing to the exterior crown of the hat.

Approximately a size 7 ⅛. A great example ready for further research and display.
