Original Item. Only One Available. This is one of the scarcest pieces of Indian War field gear we have offered. We believe this to be an early variation of the M1874 Haversack. The material of this example is very thin and it is splitting at the end of the flap as shown. This example bears no markings which makes sense given it being early issue.
The integral cotton strap is a great indication of its age, as the later variations had D buckles for the affixation of a strap. This strap is unfortunately missing the slide buckle, and the last owner used a nail to connect the strap together. The haversack has its primary pocket and a smaller pocket at the front of the interior.
This is an extremely scarce early example of a rare haversack from the Indian Wars, ready for further research and display!
