Original Item. Only One Available. This is a phenomenal Indian Wars belt rig, the first of its kind we have offered, with all gear marked N.G.P., for the National Guard of Pennsylvania. The set includes a Model 1874 Leather Waist Belt And Buckle, Springfield Trapdoor M1873 Rifle Socket Bayonet in Scabbard, and an M1874 .45/70 McKeever Cartridge Box.
The M1874 belt is offered in good condition and has no visible maker markings due to the cracking in the leather finish, but there are some numeric stencils on the reverse. The N.G.P. on the buckle is still clear, and it appears to retain all of its keepers. Please note that the belt is still actively cracking, and should be handled with care.
The M1873 bayonet is really in good condition, with a gorgeous blued finish. It’s correctly marked U.S. on the ricasso. The scabbard is well-attached without serious denting. The rosette is correctly N.G.P. marked.
The M1874 McKeever box is marked on the back with the McKeever’s patent date and a J.H. Wilson of Philadelphia maker’s mark, heavily worn due to the cracking. It’s also marked G / 58, which we believe to indicate issue to the 58th Regiment, Pennsylvania National Guard, Company G.
