Original Item: Very Few Available. We have just received a small quantity of these 100+ year-old genuine U.S. M-1878 issue canvas haversacks, as used during the Indian Wars Era following the U.S. Civil War. These are still in the original configuration, with two "D-Rings" on the back, and were not updated to the M-1904 specifications with two hooks. Most of these are marked in some way, though the markings may be VERY faded due to wear, washing, and age. Many are marked U.S. on the front flap, with some bearing Arsenal ink stamps to interior (very faded), some bags also have state and unit markings.
Offered in good condition but please expect some wear, staining, and / or other damage from long use in service. We believe these to have been manufactured in the early late 19th century. These measure approximately 13 inches high, 10 inches wide, and 4 inches deep.
STYLES AND MARKINGS VARY. We recommend hand select if you want the best condition haversack. Please note that we cannot honor any specific requests for markings.
