  • Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is an extremely scarce example of a prototype cartridge box designed by Newcomb & Lyon for the .50-70 Cartridge. The box has an engraved plate affixed to the front, reading:


    NEWCOMB & LYON
    PAT. DEC. 3RD 1867


    The box is in rough shape with a good amount of the leather heavily deteriorated and hardened, so the box cannot be opened anymore. The engraved plate is also missing one of its two nails. This does not detract from the display of the item, however. Both belt loops are still intact but one has the same hardening damage.


    This is an extremely scarce experimental cartridge box, ready for further research and display!
