Original Item. Only One Available. This is a service-used Indian Wars M1874 Dyer cartridge box used by the U.S. Cavalry. This example shows very heavy service use and is missing much of the leather finish. It is marked on the reverse side to ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL.
The box features riveted belt loops on the reverse, and a wool lined inner pocket that is now missing all of its wool. The leather is very worn, with heavy cracking and crazing in areas. The stitching is still tight on the exterior, and the securing knob is well-retained.
A very scarce box in fair shape. Comes ready for further research and display.
