Original U.S. Indian Wars and Spanish American War M1878 Canteen Marked to New York Troop "C"

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice used condition U.S. M1878 Canteen with standard a tan canvas cover. It is marked on the front with a clear TROOP C stencil, and the rear is marked N Y. We have not been able to locate this unit in records, making this a nice research opportunity.
The canteen is complete with the original cork stopper, which is still attached by a chain to a loop around the canteen's neck. It also has what looks to be a leather belt strap, though it is unfortunately broken right through both sides. The leather is quite dry and hard, so it is most likely dry rotted from age.
There are a few dents on the rear of the body, but nothing major, and there is the expected water stains around the nozzle and wear and staining to the canvas. A great chance to pick up a good example of this iconic canteen, marked to a New York Unit!
