  • Original Item: Only One Available. US M1878 Canteen with a tan canvas cover with a very clear U.S. stencil on the front and below that it is stamped:

    R.I.A.
    1907

This canteen was manufactured at Rock Island Arsenal, located in the middle of the Mississippi river between Illinois and Iowa, in 1907. The canteen is complete with its original cork stopper secured by a chain around the neck of the canteen. No denting to the body, though there is definitely wear on the cover, which has some splitting in the seam on the side.

This is the type of canteen used during the Spanish American war, as well as the Indian Wars west of the Mississippi.
