Original U.S. Indian and Spanish American Wars M1878 Canteen with Leather Shoulder Strap

Original Item: Only One Available. US M1878 Canteen with a tan canvas cover with a very clear U.S. stencil on the front, in very good condition. There is a marking on the neck of the canteen, which reads A. JEV, but we cannot see the entire marking due to the tightness of the cover.
The canteen is complete with its original cork stopper secured to one of the triangular loops found on each side of the body by a chain. The cork itself is partly missing, but could easily be replaced. It also has the proper pattern leather shoulder strap, of the later adjustable style.
There is some denting on the body, and the cover has the expected water stains and wear to the canvas. A great chance to pick up a good example of this iconic canteen.
