Original U.S. Global War on Terror Inert Improvised Explosive Device Recognition Training Device Lot - Counter IED Training

Item Description

Original Items: Only One Lot Available. This is an interesting grouping of items all used to simulate Improvised Explosive Devices. While some of the items are pieces of Military Ordnance, others are “every day” encountered items. During my (Paddy) time in Afghanistan we encountered various types of IEDS including examples shown here as well as devices constructed out of the popular yellow oil jugs, water bottles and even WWII German Schu-Mine undetectable “toe poppers”.

Unloaded or dummy grenades, artillery shell casings, and similar devices, which are cut or drilled in an BATF-approved manner so that they cannot be used as ammunition components for destructive devices, are not considered NFA weapons. This example is in total compliance and is NOT AVAILABLE FOR EXPORT

The collection of items available for your perusal has been subject to extensive usage, resulting in visible wear and tear and some damage. However, it's important to note that this is typical of training items, and should not detract from their value. These items have been utilized by the Department of Defense and the Armed Forces to help identify various types of threats, acquaint personnel with their characteristics, and determine whether any secondary or tertiary devices were present. It's worth mentioning that these devices were often "daisy-chained" together, a practice which would amplify their destructive potential and increase the radius of their impact.

An improvised explosive device (IED) is a type of unconventional explosive weapon that can take any form and be activated in a variety of ways. They target soldiers and civilians alike. In today’s conflicts, IEDs play an increasingly important role and will continue to be part of the operating environment for future NATO military operations.

IEDs are one of the main causes of casualties among troops and exact a heavy toll on local populations. With the aim of reducing the risks posed by IEDs, the Alliance helps members and partners in developing their own C-IED capabilities, with a particular emphasis on education and training, doctrine development and improving counter-measure technologies.

A great assortment of training devices that come more than ready for further research and display.
