The 120mm M831A1 Target Practice - Tracer (TP-T) cartridge is a target practice round which simulates ballistics of the M830 HEAT-MP-T Cartridge. It is an improvement over the M831 cartridge which it replaces, particularly in the area of cost (saving of $200 per round), through use of finless stabilization, with primer and propellant common to the M865. The M831A1 cartridge has the exact outside appearance as the M831 except for the obturator band, 6/6 nylon on the M831A1. The M83lAl cartridge was developed from 1989 to 1992 and Type Classified (TC) in April 1993. The M83lAl cartridge was materiel released (MR) in September 1994 and fielded for soldier training in 1995.
This lovely used example appears to have been recovered from a target area and the condition reflects as such. There is much of the original blue paint still present and the only markings that remain are 120MM.
Comes more than ready for display.
