Original U.S. Early 20th Century M1902 Army 1st Infantry Regiment Enlisted Visor Cap
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice regulation M1902 enlisted peaked cap, which replaced the earlier M1895 pattern. This was the U.S. Army's second example of a visor cap after leaving the traditional kepi design. Like the M1895, it is made made of dark blue wool, and has an enameled leather visor bound with patent leather, lined on the underside with lacquered paper. It has two sky blue bands going around the cap, and a patent leather shin strap retained by gilded brass federal regulation U.S. Army eagle buttons.
The interior of the cap does not seem to have a sweatband, so we believe it probably deteriorated long ago, and was removed. The front of the cap has a "B" Company, 1st infantry insignia, which is still in great shape. The cap shows minimal mothing, except under the chin strap, where holes have been made in one of the blue bands. The color is much less faded under the chin strap, so this cap was on display for many years.
A very nice example, ready to display!
