Original Item: Only One Available. RARE Early 1920s (possibly even WWI) US Navy Pilot Wings - Brass that has 10K Gold Fill manufactured by Robbins Co. and offered in excellent condition. 10K GF means 5% 10 karat gold by weight . Reverse has three hallmarks indicating that this wing was made by Robbins Company of Attleboro, Massachusetts. Reverse also marked 1/2 10k GF. The feathering and detail on this wing is absolutely beautiful. Pinback style wings measure 2.75 inches wide.
The layer of gold alloy on gold-plated jewelry is so minuscule it is barely noticeable in the above image. Gold-filled jewelry has 100x more gold alloy than gold plated and because that layer is so much thicker, it means gold-filled jewelry lasts longer and stands up to wear and tear better than gold plated.
