Original U.S. Colonial Revolutionary War Era Punched Tin Lantern with Blown Glass Lense & Retained Candle

Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is one of the most tremendous lanterns we have ever offered, a Colonial period personal punched tin lantern with a blown glass lens and retained candle. The construction is very crude and evident of the period, completely handmade with the original candle inside.
The top of the lantern has a small hinge and latch to open and close the compartment, which shows very heavy oxidation but still works great. The glass has some small flaws which are evident of the original blown construction.
The lantern measures roughly 10” tall with its crude wire handle which is a bit loose. The base is 2¾” in diameter. The design is very inspired and lovely.
