Original U.S. Colonial Era Powder Horn with Original Wooden Plug

Item Description

Original Item. Only One Available. This is a gorgeous example of an Early American powder horn with a retained wooden plug. The bottom of the horn has four crude nails holding the wooden butt in place. This is a very well-used horn.

The throat retains a small and rounded plug which is certainly original to it. There remains the original plug retaining strap on the plug, but it has broken off of the horn itself, and there was a small groove carved into the spout to hold the strap. The horn has great color which has worn heavily over time.

The horn is roughly 12” long with the plug. A very nice horn from Early America. Ready for further research and display.
