  • Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a very intriguing acrylic 82nd Airborne Division sign made during the 1980s by Veterans of the Division, with an interesting provenance note to the back. There were also at one point some newspaper clippings attached, but they are long gone.

The sign measures 16 ½ x 22” and is in good overall condition with a very inspired design. There is a hole at the top for hanging. The note to the back reads:

    DESIGNED, CONSTRUCTED
    AND DONATED BY
    PAUL AXEN “A BTTY”
    TRANSPORTED AND CHEERFULLY
    PRESENTED BY:
    ED MURPHY “A BTTY”
WON BY DOT USSERY IN NASHVILLE, TENN
    5-23-85 THRU 5-26-85

We did find evidence of a Paul Axen serving with the 82nd Airborne who was from Suffolk, New York. This piece requires a lot more research, but will display great as is!

    Ready for display.
