Original U.S. Cold War Era 1st Special Forces Group Green Beret with Unit Badges - dated 1952

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice Toronto Canada-Manufactured "Basque Beret", as used by the U.S. Special Forces. It is in great shape, and the interior is fully maker marked, and the beret is in size 7 1/2, manufactured in 1952. It has a few moth nips to the wool exterior, as expected for a beret of this age, but it still presents very well and is in a lovely dark green.

The front of the beret has the "beret flash" of the 1st Special Forces Group, held in place by a U.S. Special Forces Distinctive Unit Insignia pin. This pin shows crossed arrows through a V-42 Special forces knife, and bears the special forces motto DE OPPRESSO LIBER ("to liberate the oppressed").

Next to this is another pin, which shows a "Trojan Horse" inside a blue castle on a red shield, with CO. D / OPERATIONAL GROUP underneath it. The "Trojan Horse" is the insignia of the 10th Special Forces Group, but this is definitely not for that. We have not been able to identify the exact meaning of the pin, leaving it as an excellent research opportunity.

A very nice cold war era Green Beret, ready to display!
