Original Item: Only One Available. This is a fine example of a Civil War Union Artillery Officer’s Cap Device featuring crossed cannons with a circle in the middle for the placement of a number. This example has no number so it’s for all Union artillery officers.
The device is the typical style as used during the Civil War, and worn on all versions of headgear worn by Artillery Officers during the war. The insignia is embroidered on a dark blue wool with fine bullion embroidery in gold and silver. The workmanship is second to none, and the condition rates as excellent, only showing signs of mellowed patina from being in storage over the last 150 years.
Measures approximately 3¾ x 1⅞”.
This is an excellent piece to add to a Civil War collection as is, or to add onto the classic Civil War Officer’s Kepi or Slouch Hat if one so desired. Ready for display!
