Original U.S. Civil War State of New York Sons of Union Veterans Model 1872 Officers Kepi by Henderson & Co - Late 19th Century

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a late 19th century officer's kepi, constructed of navy blue wool with leather visor, bullion embroiderer 1st SVR infantry insignia sewn above gilt officer's chin cords. Lining and leather sweat band remain in very good condition, and it is nicely maker marked by HENDERSON & CO of PHILADELPHIA. There is also a bras SVR (Sons of Veterans Reserves) insignia pin attached to the hat cords which are attached with New York Sons of Union Veterans staff buttons. Size is approximately US 7 (56cm). Interior sweat band has old paper label adhered which bears a name and rank of Lieutenant.

Organized Nationally in 1881 and chartered by Congress in 1954, SUVCW is the legal heir and successor to the Grand Army of the Republic.
