Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice "privately purchased" example of a U.S. Civil war black leather flap holster, designed to fit the smaller percussion revolvers of the day. This example was likely for a .31 or .32 caliber revolver. The holster is made from top grade leather with all of its original stitching still intact and tight. It was designed to be worn "Butt Forward" on the right hip for use with the left hand, the right hand being reserved for the Officer's Sword.
The flap has a securing strap which hooks onto the brass stud on the front of the holster. A true Civil War Military style holster of this 1860 period is very hard to find in remarkably good, heavily used condition. It does have cracking in the finish, but the closure flap is in great shape without any rips or tears. The belt loop is also still in good shape. This still has a very nice shape, without the typical crushing usually seen on these. It would be the perfect accessory for any suitable Civil War percussion revolver. It measures roughly 10 x 5”.
