Original Item. Only One Available. This is a gorgeous powder flask with a plain finish, manufactured by Frary, Benham & Co. This is a very scarce maker of powder flasks, and this one is in great shape with a still-functional spout.
The brass spout is adjustable for 2, 2 1/4, 2 1/3, and 2 3/4 DRAMS and marked "FRARY BENHAM & CO" on the end fitting shutter itself. The overall length is approximately 7 7/8 inches. Riling's POWDER FLASK BOOK records the firm as having operated in the mid 1850s for only two years before being replaced by the American Powder Flask Company. Both companies operated out of the same shop in New Haven, Connecticut.
This is a very scarce maker of flask from the Civil War period. Comes ready for further research and display.
