Original U.S. Civil War Officer's Sword Belt with Model 1851 Regulation Belt Buckle & Sword Hanger

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. These are extremely rare, and this is the first time that we have managed to have one available! This is a genuine U.S. Civil War Officer's Sword belt, with a Federal Model 1851 Regulation Plate Belt Buckle, as well as a nice sword hanger. The belt itself is constructed of leather wrapped around burlap canvas, with seam in the back and held together by two rows of stitching.  This would have been much easier two work with than a solid leather belt.

The plate style buckle is brass, and still has some of the original gilding on the back, though the front side is now all brass. originally the laurel wreath would have been silver highlighted. The attached sword hanger has all brass hardware, with all leather hangers. It is relatively short, so we can assume that the officer was as well. The original clip still works, so that the belt with attached hanger can be removed.

Overall condition is good but definitely shows significant wear. These belts unfortunately did not hold up well over the years, so they are rare in ANY condition. While it is deteriorated, this belt still has all of its components, and would make an excellent pat of any civil war collection.

Ready to display!

NOTE: Some ares of the belt are VERY delicate. Handle with care!
