Original U.S. Civil War Officer's Sword Belt with Model 1851 Regulation Belt Buckle

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. These are extremely rare, and this is the first time that we have managed to have one available in a long time! This is a genuine U.S. Civil War Officer's Sword belt, with a Federal Model 1851 Regulation Plate Belt Buckle. The belt itself is constructed of leather, with seam on each edge.

The end of the belt is run through the rectangular M1851 brass sword belt plate loop and stitched together A separate leather adjuster loop secures the connection. The brass keeper is sewn to the opposite end of the belt.

The regulation 1851 pattern, brass, eagle waist belt plate is the rectangular, concave, detailed plate that measures approximately 83 mm long x 53 mm high, the cast brass plate has an integral tongue on the reverse. The plate face has an even patina and exhibits well-defined edges. The back of the plate and the keeper are not stamped.

Overall condition is good but definitely shows significant wear. These belts unfortunately did not hold up well over the years, so they are rare in ANY condition. While it is deteriorated, this belt still has most of its components, and would make an excellent part of any civil war collection.

Ready to display!

NOTE: Some areas of the belt are VERY delicate. Handle with care!
