  • Original Item: Only One Available. These are extremely rare, and this is the first time that we have managed to have one on its own! This is a genuine U.S. Civil War Officer's Federal Model 1851 Regulation Plate Belt Buckle with a small fragment of the original belt still attached to the catch. The buckle is missing about 50% of the officer’s wreath.

The leather fragment shows a good patina, and this would look great displayed with the catch attached and the belt fragment. The number 1 24 is stamped into the reverse of the buckle.

The regulation 1851 pattern, brass, eagle waist belt plate is the rectangular, concave, detailed plate that measures approximately 83 mm long x 53 mm high, the cast brass plate has an integral tongue on the reverse and the one-piece, nickel-silver wreath terminating beneath the eagle’s wings. The wreath is roughly 50% retained with heavy loss. The plate face has a gorgeous worn patina and exhibits well-defined edges.

A great buckle, ready for further research and display!
