Original U.S. Civil War Officer's Commission dated March 15 1865 for 2nd Lt. J. Eichenberg - N.Y.S. Volunteers

Item Description

Original item: One of a Kind. This is glazed and framed U.S. CIVIL WAR Officer's Commission for JAMES A. EICHENBERG, who was serving as a SECOND LIEUTENANT in the NEW YORK STATE VOLUNTEERS, and awarded that rank of on March 15 1865. The document is signed by an Adjutant-General in the name of REUBEN E. FENTON, the governor of New York, and dated March 31st 1865.

The glazed glass frame measures 16 1/2" X 12", and is paper backed. Good idea to volunteer about a month before the War ended. The documents printing clear with a red seal, but the ink used with the written parts is now faded. Fortunately the essential information was noted on the back in pencil which does make reading it possible to fully read the document.
