  • Original Item: Only One Available. Here is a nice Civil War specimen of the Model 1858 Smooth Side or Flat Back pattern tin canteen offered in good condition.


    The model 1858 canteen was the most popular canteen of the Civil War period. Canteen measures approximately 8.5" in diameter. It is missing its cover. The tin body of the canteen is very good, including the spout. All three sling loops, the spout, stopper and chain are all present. This is a New York Depot canteen as it has the iron chain connecting the stopper ring to one of the side strap brackets. Stopper is original (rare!). A very nice rare canteen from the American Civil War!
