Original Item: Only One Available. This is a beautifully marked original Civil War naval artillery fuse box. This is the leather pouch that was worn on the side of the issue waistbelt of the Civil War naval artilleryman. It held his paper time fuzes for firing the cannon shells from the ship’s guns.
The inner flap has an arsenal mark of US NY / BOSTON as clearly marked as you could ever hope for. The original closure tab is present on the bottom of the box (although torn) as well as the brass finial. On the back of the box it has the original leather belt loop solidly intact. The box measures approximately 4-3/4 inches by 4-1/4 inches by 2-1/2 inches in overall size.
This will make a fine addition for a naval or artillery collector alike!
