Original Item: Only One Available. This is a nice example of the principal cavalry saber used in the U.S. Civil War of 1860-1865. It has brass mounts with leather sword grip bound in brass wire.
The curved blade is marked on one side-
Mansfield & Lamb Forestdale, R.I.
One the other side it is marked-
U.S. C.E.W.
1864
The curved blade is marked as being inspected by C.E.W. who was a Union Government Inspector named Charles E. Wilson and was stationed at the "Mansfield & Lamb" sword factory during the late war period. The markings are totally clear and can be easily seen on the blade's riccasso.
The saber comes with the original all steel curved scabbard complete with both mounting rings. Offered in nice collector's condition, original Civil War Cavalry Swords are getting harder and harder to find every year!
