Original Item. Only One Available. This is a great example of a Civil War Federal Issue Enlisted Man’s Model 1839 Belt Buckle with a scarce “Arrow Back”. The buckle has very heavy wear and some strange paper residue on the back, so it could use a minor cleaning.
The buckle has later wartime pattern brass "arrowhead" style attachment studs on the reverse. The plate measures measures approximately 3 3/8” x 2 1/8”.
The condition is good and was not excavated (not dug up). This die-stuck specimen has the large raised letters "US" on the face and exhibits a heavily worn dark bronze patina overall. The backside of the plate, complete with its brass hooks all intact, is lead filled and in good condition with some residue as shown.
