Original U.S. Civil War Homemade Lead Knuckle Duster

Item Description

Original Item: One-of-a-kind. Just acquired from a recent military auction, is a great example of a lead knuckle duster dating from the United States Civil War. Made by melting down lead bullets, these were moderately popular for close combat during the war, and could easily be made with the heat from a camp fire. These are quite smart looking, and probably were hand carved after the original casting.

The knuckles measure 4 inches wide by 2.5 inches high and 5/8 inches wide at the widest part. See others similar in Civil War Collector's  Encyclopedia by Francis A. Lord, p. 156.

Weight: 1lb 2oz Condition: Very Good.
