Original U.S. Civil War Federal Infantry 1st Lieutenant Double Row Border Shoulder Board
Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice example of an upmarket "Double Row Border" Civil War Federal officer shoulder board for the rank of 1st Lieutenant, indicated by the single bar at each end. The color inside the border is blue, the color indicating Infantry during the Civil War era and later. It his hand embroidered, made from wool fabric and bullion thread surrounding a stiff cheesecloth core. It measures 4 5/8" x 1 7/8", and is just over 1/4" thick.
There is some moth damage to the back, and overall oxidation, however it still presents beautifully, with a lovely patina. A very nice upmarket example that would be home in any Civil War insignia collection.
