Original Item. Only One Available. Original Item: Only One Available. This is unusual and extremely scarce. An original U.S. Civil War era Fife, as in "Musket, Fife and Drum", constructed of wood with a brass endpiece. It appears that the other end had an endpiece which is now absent.
The fife measures 14” overall, originally made in a fine quality wood with brass caps on each end, although one end is missing. It seems functional but we don't know how to play so we can’t test it.
Fifes have always had an important place in military culture, especially during the Civil War. Perfect piece for a Civil War personal effects collection. Comes ready for further research and display.
