Original Item. Only One Available. This is a very interesting little side knife which dates to the Civil War / Wild West era. There is a hand-cut star insignia embedded in both sides of the wooden grip, and when this was purchased, we were told it had a Confederate Texas connection, however this was likely just speculation.
The knife, which has a 5¼” dagger-style blade, has evidence of past pitting and oxidation which has been sharpened away, although there is still heavy pitting in the center of the blade and the crossguard, which has a double quillion. The hilt is mostly wood with a small metal plate affixed to the pommel with two flat-head screws. The overall length of the knife is roughly 9”.
The included scabbard is of the period with the stitching on the one side well-retained, with some small checkering added to one side.
A very interesting knife, certainly of the period but likely not Confederate Texan as we were told. Ready for further research and display.
