Original U.S. Civil War Era Hand Carved Bone Pipe
Original Item: Only One Item Available. This is a lovely original item with masses of patina and appeal. It appears to be carved from bone or perhaps even ivory in the shape of a soldier's head wearing a kepi infantry cap (common U.S. Civil War hat).
Pipe is well used and has turned many shades of amber and yellow. It has a short mouthpiece that definitely shows a lot of use and there is a white metal, possibly silver, band joining the pipe to the mouthpiece.
The Soldier, slim faced has beard and mustache and shows what appears to be an embroidered collar to his tunic. The design is unknown to us but we suppose may be confederate, maybe someone can identify this decoration? Regardless, this is a fascinating piece of American history.
