Original U.S. Civil War Era Colt M1849 4” Barrel Pocket Percussion Revolver Black Leather Holster

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. The Colt "Pocket Percussion" Model 1849 revolvers in .31cal are essentially scaled down versions of the larger Navy Model 1851 in .36cal, and were developed concurrently.

This is a very nice example of a U.S. Civil war black leather flap holster, designed to fit the small percussion revolvers of the day. The holster is made from top grade leather with all of its original stitching still intact and tight. It was designed to be worn "Butt Forward" on the right hip for use with the left hand, the right hand being reserved for the Officer's Sword.

The flap has a securing strap which hooks onto the brass stud on the front of the holster. A true Civil War Military style holster of this 1860 period is very hard to find in remarkably good, somewhat used condition. It does have some cracking in the finish, and there is a repaired tear on the closure flap, but the typical Civil War holsters we see are usually far worse. This still has a very nice shape, without the typical crushing usually seen on these. It would be the perfect accessory for any suitable Civil War percussion revolver.
