Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very attractive medium size U.S. Civil War era brass powder flask featuring a decorative fluted pattern across the body. The flask retains its original dispensing mechanism with a functional spring, removable spout, and threaded upper section, making it a particularly complete example of a 19th century firearm accessory.

The flask measures approximately 8 inches in overall length. The brass body displays a handsome naturally aged surface with light wear consistent with period use. The throat bears several crudely scratched or etched letters, likely added during its working life, although their meaning has not been identified.

The original spout remains present and screws on and off correctly. The spring mechanism is still intact and functions well, an especially desirable feature on an original powder flask of this age. The upper section can also be unscrewed to permit inspection of the interior.

The throat was originally secured by three screws. Two remain present, while the third is missing. There is no powder remaining inside the flask.

Powder flasks of this type were used to carry and dispense black powder for muzzleloading firearms during the mid-19th century. Decorative brass examples were popular with civilian shooters and could also accompany military style arms during the Civil War period.
