Original U.S. Child's Percussion Fowling Piece by Bown & Tetley of Pittsburgh circa 1840

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This just came out of the attic after a hundred years of storage, together with a couple of hundred other guns. It is an American assembled percussion fowling piece, made for a boy of maybe ten or twelve years old. The barrel, which we think is .60 Caliber is stamped LONDON. The lock is marked BOWN & TETLEY / PITTSBURGH, a family business that operated for most of the 1800 hundreds.

The gun measures 40 1/2" overall with the barrel only 27 1/2" in length, with a bore of about .60" / 22 gauge. It features a brass Butt plate, ram rod pipe and trigger guard that has its rear portion of about an inch missing. The stock is quite small, and clearly intended for a child. Checkered wrist and complete with its iron ram rod.

Dating to the 1840s, really nice and ready to display!
