Original U.S. Champagne Corkscrew Tap in Leather Case marked to the Lexington Hotel in Chicago where Al Capone Lived - Circa 1925

Original Item: One-of-a-Kind. This is a magnificently made Champagne Corkscrew Tap designed to screw through the cork of larger size bottles such as a Magnum or Jeroboam. This allowed the champagne or wine inside to be accessed in a controlled manner using the spigot on the end. A very clever way to preserve the massive amount of wine being accessed.
The corkscrew tap is non magnetic and looks to be silver plated. There are no markings on the tap itself, but the case is marked LEXINGTON / CHICAGO, for the famed Lexington Hotel, built for the Columbian Exposition in 1892. This hotel is most famous for being gangster Al Capone's primary residence from July 1928 until his arrest in 1931.
