Original U.S. / British Colonial Era Blacksmith Hand Forged Trade Tomahawk & Shaft

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a remarkable and authentic piece of history - a trade tomahawk that was likely made by a British or American blacksmith during the 18th century. The tomahawk's head is in good condition despite some minor pitting, and has a distinct look with evident crude iron tool markings. The blade is designed for cutting and chopping, and was likely used for tasks such as felling small trees, building structures and making firewood. The handle of this example is absolutely period, from how the top of the shaft looks. It has aged incredibly well with the head.

The length of the head of the tomahawk measures approximately 4 inches with an edge width of 2½ inches, while the handle is about 15½ inches long. The handle has heavy wear but doesn’t have any structural damage. The overall length is roughly 15½”.

This is a beautiful example of a Colonial blacksmith made trade tomahawk! Comes ready for display.
