Original Item: Only One Available. This is a fine 30 - 1/2" blade with single fuller and etching of floral patterns and shield with an arrow on right, left side with American eagle and riband E. Pluribus Unum. No visible makers mark. Elaborate cast and chased bronze hilt with fierce eagle pommel. Raised relief eagle on langets. Magnificent and elaborate carved and checkered bone grip. Brass scabbard has two hangers.
Overall condition is excellent, especially the Hilt which retains much original bright gilding. Bone grip is very good with the usual minor chips up towards the pommel. Blade etching is worn but visible with no serious rust and only very minor pitting on left side. Brass scabbard retains only faint traces of original gilding and has a few door pinches.
Overall a very desirable and notable pre-Civil War American officer sword in very good to excellent condition.
