  • Original Items: Only One Lot of 2 Available. A Congressional Medal of Honor (CMOH) recipient may obtain CMOH License Plates for one passenger motor vehicle, motorcycle, or commercial motor vehicle with an unladen weight of 8,000 pounds or less, which they own. CMOH License Plates are not available as a personalized license plate.

The CMOH recipient is exempt from payment of all fees, except fees for duplicates, on that one vehicle only. The vehicle cannot be used for transportation for hire, compensation, or profit.

Vehicles with CMOH License Plates are assigned a 12/31/XX expiration date and must be renewed annually for no fee. The CMOH License Plates may be transferred to another vehicle owned by the recipient.

Sample License Plates are examples of existing license plates often provided at cost or no cost to law enforcement agencies and/or the general public. They usually have a letter and/or number combination that easily identifies them as samples such as "12345", the word "SAMPLE" or similar.

The Sample Plates In This Lot:

    - Partial Stamped 12 ⅛” x 6 ¼” Plate
    - Printed 12 ⅛” x 6 ¼” Plate

Both plates are reflective and read as:

    South Dakota
    CMH 00
    Congressional
    Medal of Honor

The left hand side of the plates have the Medal of Honor printed on it and is the Army version.

Both plates are in lovely condition and are unused, as they are just sample plates.

If you are convicted of knowingly displaying a fictitious plate, consequences could include: you are guilty of committing a class 2 misdemeanor. Up to $750 in fines plus surcharges, which can nearly double the fine amount. Up to 4 months in jail.

The plates say sample, do not put them on your vehicle. Under federal law, making false claims about winning military medals is a crime punishable by up to a year in prison. These are being sold as a display item only.
