Original U.S. 19th Century Stocking & Co. Percussion Pepperbox Six-Shot Revolver c.1840

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Pepperbox revolvers were so named because of the similarity of the front view of the weapon was so reminiscent of a Pepper Pot of the time being a circle of round holes. This example is in very nice used condition. Made in the 1840s, it is a .28 caliber six shot percussion pepperbox revolver, manufactured by Stocking & Co. of Worcester, Massachusetts. It measures 7 3/4 inches in overall length, with a 4 inch long barrel/cylinder. It is quite nicely engraved on both sides of the action, as well as on the barrel's nipple cover. It is marked with serial number 158 on the cylinder, trigger guard, frame under the grips, on both grip scales, and on the main spring.

It is also marked on the flats between the barrels with:

STOCKING & CO.    WORCESTER

CAST-STEEL    WARRANTED

The grips are wood and each side has what appears to be a Nickel plated diamond shape that could be engraved with the Owner's initials. The revolver is single action only, and fitted with a long Cocking Spur Hammer which upon depressing rotates the barrels to the next chamber. The trigger, inside its standard loop guard then discharges the weapon.

In lovely condition and ready to display!
