Original U.S. 1951 Dated Leather Holster For The M1917 .45 Cal Revolver by Milsco - US Post Office Marked

Original Item: Only One Available. Now this is definitely an interesting holster! The holster is not marked with the standard “US” on the front, but instead is marked as being PROPERTY OF U.S. P.O. DEPT. and is in wonderful condition! In a time before electronic banking and the use of “swipe” cards, large sums of money was sent through the mail, mainly on the railways in an effort to stop any train robberies. There isn’t a real big difference in these Post Office holsters and the US Military issue ones, mainly being the lack of the web belt hanger and the brass loop at the bottom for a leather thong.
The holster is in very good condition, with the leather still soft, and light wear around the edges. The front still has a clear and legible Post Office marking. On the edge, just under the flap is a clear 1951 date.
The leather is still soft, solid with great intact stitching. There is only minor staining, other than that, this is still a very serviceable, attractive holster.
