Original Turkish Converted WWI German Sawback S98/05 “Butcher” Bayonet

Original Item: Only One Available. This is an example of a Post-WWI Turkish modification to a WWI German produced S98/05 Sawback bayonet, originally intended for Pionier (Engineer) troops. This is just one of the thousands of surplus German Bayonets which were sold to Turkey following the Treaty of Versailles which greatly diminished Germany’s military arsenal.
The bayonet features a 9 ½” blade which is 1” wide, with the original German markings still intact:
WAFFENFABRIK
MAUSER A.G.
OBERNDORF a.N.
In addition, the original date (17) stamp is still retained on the spine of the blade, along with a Crown “W” proof and a Crown “U” proof. Amazingly, the bayonet still retains its original sawback blade.
