  • Original Item. Only One Available. This is a very scarce Swiss model 1892/00 Bayonet (Vierkant-Stichbajonett), also known as the model 1889, 1892, 1900, or cyclist bayonet. These were manufactured by converting an older 1863 or 1871 Vetterli socket bayonet: the socket was removed and a new crosspiece and grip with lock was welded on.

This example is stamped on the crossguard with serial number 65168. There are no other markings, correct for this model. The bayonet has edge wear across but retains a shiny finish. The button still works but is a bit sticky. The blade is 15 ⅛” and the overall length is 19 ¾”.

The leather sheath appears either cut down from a larger sheath or custom-made for this bayonet. It is roughly 16 ½” and has a small steel knob at the end.

These bayonets were issued to machine gunners, fortress guard, and arguably most famously with Swiss Bicycle Troops, with several service weapons: Schmidt-Rubin 1889, 1889/96, 1897 Kadet Rifle, 1900 Short Rifle, and 00/11 / K11 Carbine.

    Ready for display.

    Approximate Dimensions:
    Blade Length: 15 1/8”
    Total Length: 19 3/4”
    Scabbard Length: 16 1/2”
