Original Item. Only One Available. This is a lovely Model 110 Permissionsbayonet by F.M. Mattson AB Mora of Sweden. The Swedish Walk Out bayonet initiated production in 1939. These were never officially sanctioned by the Swedish Army yet were intended as a wall or desk decoration. Production ceased in 1962.
This example bears a 8” long drop forged, steel plated blade which is marked on the ricasso:
F.M. MATTSSON
MORA
The original brown leather buffer pad remains intact. The scabbard is made out of a blued sheet metal base, with a separate throat, ball and frog lug. It has oxidization spotting throughout yet remains dent free. The two-piece cast nickel-silver hilt features; a handguard/clamshell that has a shield above a crosshatched background, a double crossguard with crosshatching and a lion head pommel. It also features two elk horn grip plates secured with two small brass grip rivets.
The clamshell guard is engraved:
R.C.Z.
44
This is likely the owner’s initials and date of carry, 1944. This example is complete with a scarce three-piece stitched leather belt frog. The securing snap is still retained and fully functional, but the strap is crazing heavily.
A very rare bayonet, the first of its kind we have offered, ready for further research and display.
