  • Original Item: Only One Available. These unusual pistols have always been scarce and hard to find, with this being only the third that we have been able to offer. The Swedish Model 1850 Cavalry pistol was an interesting gun, single shot but also designed to take a shoulder stock that attaches to the grip back strap, unfortunately missing from this example. A very distinctive design, this is one of the very last single shot Military Pistols adopted by any European Nation.

In just lovely condition bearing the a relatively Serial Number of 940, which is found on the left side of the barrel, barrel tang, lock and also on the brass butt cap. This pistol features a .78 bore 11 3/4" barrel, with all brass mounts, and measures 18 1/4" overall. This is larger in bore than we are used to seeing, so this possibly was a special design, or modified later. The grip is heavily checkered and the iron lock is stamped H over 1851 with the serial number 940 across the tail. H signifies that the manufacturer was Husqvarna, a firm that still exists to this day.

The pistol is also marked with a 22 / US on the left side of the butt cap, with the number 22 stamped on other components. It is very possible that this gun was exported to the United States during U.S. Civil war, along with large numbers of other obsolete percussion arms from Europe. Definitely some fantastic research potential!

Condition is very good, with a lovely used patina overall, but no major damage or oxidation. The stock has a lovely color, with the checkering well retained, and the brass fittings have a lovely mellow patina. The lock is functional, though it does have a worn tumbler, and will fire at full and half cock. The half cock position is so close to the nipple cone that it is not useable anyway.

This is all in just wonderful condition and is 100% fully correct. Extremely rare and totally ready to research and display!
